can i make updates to my github repo?

I have made a submission for the ai hackathon but due to some issues was not able to write out the description properly.
Is it okay if i update the readme file of the github repo i linked in the submission?
What happens if a repo is updated after the deadline for submission?

    Hi laksh,

    Please leave the submission and your github repo as is to avoid loss of eligibility. If the judges need more information, they will ask you questions at that time.

    Hi.
    Our group made a small update to the repo regarding acknowledgements. If this is a problem, we could revert our github page to what it was at the time of submission.
